Join Monisola Omotoso as she walks you through the process of translating abstract forms into pattern shapes, which are then intuitively draped on the stand to bring the bodice to life.
For this online workshop, Monisola has chosen to highlight one of the featured projects from her upcoming book Pattern Cutting Deconstructed: Wearable Art (Published in August 2025): the Pink Natural IV bodice. Inspired by Michael Wall’s artwork of the same name, this piece led to creating a bustier-style bodice with a structured peplum—an interpretation that merges sculptural abstraction with historical silhouette. The design of the bodice echoes that of 18th-century court dress align beautifully with the V&A’s Marie Antoinette: Style exhibition.
